Reading Together

Join us each day as we read through the book of John together!  God’s word is alive and active and he wants to speak directly into your life!  We encourage anyone and everyone to consider joining our daily text group to remind you to dig into God’s word with us as a community!  We’ll send out a daily reminder at 9am along with that days chapter we will be reading, 1 chapter a day.

Below you will find some guidance in the SOAP method of reading scripture and writing down how God speaks to you through each chapter in a journal.  We encourage you to find some way to connect with God’s word on a daily basis. You don’t have to use the SOAP method, but if you do here is how to do it!

Before you read your daily chapter of scripture, ask God to open your ears and speak to you through his word.  After you read today’s chapter, grab a journal and write down the left hand side of the journal page S underneath, O, underneath A, underneath P.  Then journal the following thoughts to the right of each.

S: Scripture

Write down the verse or verses that stuck out to you in the chapter you read.

O: Observation

What is going on in the scripture you picked? Who is speaking?  Who are they speaking to?  What are the basics of what is going on in this scripture(s)/chapter?

A: Application:

What did you learn? How does this apply to your life? How are you going to apply it in your life?

P: Prayer:

Write down a prayer regarding the scripture you just read. Ask God to help you apply what you learned in your life.

That is it!  We encourage you to try this daily!

God longs to speak to us & encourage us through his word. His word is alive and active. Why would we run to other springs to try to satisfy what only God can! God has spoken and is speaking and longs to speak directly into each of our lives. The question is are we thirsty? Are we hungry? How are you feeding yourself? How are you allowing God’s word to transform your life?

2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV): All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness,
Hebrews 4: 12-13 (NLT): For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. 13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.
